“Stories From the Archives” presentations focus on artifacts in the Center’s collections and the individuals who used or collected them. The goal of the series is to demystify the archives, while raising awareness of the Center by showcasing its plethora of unique and unusual artifacts that might not have been seen by the public or the UAMS community. The series also seeks to highlight the historical diversity in the medical and health sciences fields in Arkansas. The series is presented periodically throughout the year.
The “Stay-at-Home” Lecture series was created in March 2020 at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, and features online presentations on historical health sciences topics. Lectures are presented the first Thursday of every month and begin at 7:00 p.m. The Stay-at-Home Lecture series is sponsored by the Society for the History of Medicine and the Health Professions. Each presentation in this series is free and anyone is welcome to attend. To join each presentation, go to the link: https://zoom.us/j/97223974167.
Each presentation is recorded and available for viewing after its air date. To view past presentations, please visit the SHMHP: History of Medicine's YouTube Channel. Check out a selection from our past programs and events:
