Tim Nutt, Director of the Historical Research Center/Resource Management

Timothy G. Nutt has served as Director of the Historical Research Center since 2015. Prior to his appointment at UAMS, Tim was the head of special collections at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville from February 2012 to August 2015. He joined UAF special collections in 2005 as manuscripts and rare books librarian and advanced through progressively responsible positions until being named head in 2012. While at the University of Arkansas, he received the Distinguished Faculty Award for 2011 from the University of Arkansas Honors College for his mentorship of Honors College students in archival practices, as well as for his contributions to teaching and research. From 1997-2005, he held the position of Deputy Curator at the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies at the Central Arkansas Library System in Little Rock. 

He has published and presented extensively on Arkansas history and archival theory. His scholarship includes an article in the American Archivist on strategic planning in archives, in the Arkansas Historical Quarterly on the Little Rock Censor Board and entries for the online Encyclopedia of Arkansas History & Culture, of which he was the founding Managing Editor and Staff Historian. He also has written, directed, and performed in historical reenactments.  He is the co-compiler of Arkansas History: An Annotated Bibliography (Greenwood Press) which was recognized by the American Library Association as one of  the “Top Ten Reference Sources” for 1995. He is a past president of the Arkansas Historical Association and is a Certified Archivist.
